Rich Herl
News Anchor

Rich Herl came to Huntsville in November 2000 from Ashtabula, Ohio, which is right in the northeast corner of the state and about 60-miles outside of Cleveland. The area right along the shores of Lake Erie is also known by many as "the snowbelt." Rich is a 1995 Edgewood Senior High School graduate and a 1999 graduate of Walsh University, which is located in North Canton, Ohio.

From 1996-2000, Rich worked in the town of Conneaut, Ohio, as a DJ at a country music station before moving to the Huntsville area. Rich arrived right in the middle of the controversy surrounding the 2000 Presidential race between soon-to-be President Bush and Al Gore. He has covered local angles to several major stories, including 9-11, the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster, and the 2004 Presidential race among others.

Sports has also been a major part of Rich's life as a fan and career. He grew up following and rooting for the Indians, Browns, Cavs, and Ohio State Buckeyes. You can hear him call the Athens Golden Eagles high school football games on Friday nights during the fall season on WVNN.

Rich resides in Athens and you can catch him walking around his neighborhood every day. (If you see someone with headphones on, it's probably him.) He's also an active member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Madison.

Mecca Musick
News Anchor

Mecca Musick is from the great state of Texas. She grew up in the little town called Whitehouse surrounded by horses, chickens, and the occasional pet pig. Her mother named her Mecca after the word, which means the center of activity or the hub of the universe.

Mecca studied art for many years and loves to paint. Before moving to Huntsville she worked in Austin, TX as a graphic designer at All American Flags and Banners where they made giant battle and mascot flags.

This is her first radio job but news, especially political news, has always been a passion. She once skipped school in the 6th grade to attend a speech by Ann Richards where she asked the gubernatorial candidate such hard hitting questions as pizza or hamburgers?

When she's not at the station Mecca reads as many books as she can get her hands on, writes short stories, and likes to check out live music. Mecca says she has fallen in love with Alabama and enjoys the history, the beauty, and the people here. On weekends you might find Mecca hiking through the woods, tackling her latest art project, or spoiling her boston terrier, Roxy.
