Republican Women of Huntsville July meeting
The Republican Women of Huntsville will have Alabama State Treasurer and gubernatorial candidate Kay Ivey as the speaker at their July 7 meeting at The Ledges Club, 32 Castle Down Dr. Meet and greet starts at 11:00a.m., with lunch at 11:30. Fireworks Fundraiser
The Apostolic Truth United Pentecostal Church of Toney Alabama is urging you to support their fundraising efforts by purchasing your fireworks for this July 4th season at the TNT® Fireworks stand located at the PigglyWiggly Parking Lot at Highway 53 and Jeff Road. Concert In The Park - July 6
FREE “Concerts in the Park,” the outdoor summer co-production of The Arts Council, Inc. & The City of Huntsville’s Department of Recreation Services, held at Big Spring International Park and featuring: ASHLEIGH MARIE (6:30 p.m.)—This thirteen-year old acoustic guitar player, a previous winner at Panoply’s GEICO Homegrown Talent Contest, performs country, classic/southern rock, and Christian tunes, backed up by Josette Beech (background vox); Frank Estes (steel guitar/lead guitar); Shayne Williams (drums/keyboard/background vox); and Bryant Saiki (bass guitar). ROCKET CITY CHORUS (7:20 p.m.)—Barbershop singing is alive and well and living in our area thanks to this 52 year-old group, dedicated to the preservation of the melodious sound of four-part, close harmony, barbershop quartet, and chorus. Juggling workshop for kids at Athens-Limestone Public Library
The Athens-Limestone Public Library will host two juggling workshops on Tuesday, July 7th. At 10:15 AM there will be a workshop for children ages 5-8 years old. At 11:30 AM there will be a workshop for 9-13 year olds. Registration is limited to 15 people at each workshop. There is a $3 registration fee, which includes juggling supplies for each participant. Footlights Community Theatre "A Night on Broadway"
Footlights Community Theater will be presenting a musical revue "A Night on Broadway" dinner theatre on Saturday July 18th at 7pm in the Beasley Center of Athens. Bug'n in July
The North Alabama Volkswagen Club would like to announce their 10th Annual Bug'n in July charity car show. Bug'n in July will be held July 18-19, 2009 in beautiful Point Mallard Park in Decatur, Alabama. Proceeds from our show will be donated to our sponsored charity, Crisis Services of North Alabama (http://www.csna.org/) There'll be tons of activities for the whole family! Bug'n in July will feature an engine blow sponsored by VW restoration shop, Airkooled Kustoms, 1/64 scale Volkswagen drag-racing, coloring for the kids, and dozens and dozens of beautiful vintage and custom Volkswagen vehicles from the classic Beetle to the Karmann Ghia and Bus.
Rocket City Rowing Club "Learn To Row" for Youth
Rocket City Rowing Club, a non-profit group that offers competitive and recreational rowing, will hold “Learn to Row” camps for valley youth in July. The camps provide a beginning rower’s introduction to the sport. In addition to practices on the water, the camps will review proper water safety, basic rowing technique with ergometers (rowing machines), conditioning fundamentals, core strength development, stretching, teamwork and racing strategy. Boys and Girls ages 12 to 17 may attend, with a limit of 30 campers per week. Camps will be July 13-17 and July 20-24, 7:30am to 11:30 am. Campers may register for one or both sessions. Camp will be held at the Community Boathouse, on the Tennessee River. Camp fee is $75 per week; includes T-shirt, a water bottle and lunch on Friday. North Alabama Medical Reserve Corps orientation
On July 30, 2009 the North Alabama Medical Reserve Corps will hold its quarterly NAMRC Orientation from 6-8pm at 320 Fountain Circle, Huntsville, AL in Conference Room 1. NAMRC Orientation will provide attendees with vital information to prepare themselves and their families for potential dangers in our community, as well as, defining the role of the NAMRC and NAMRC volunteers in preparing for and responding to disasters and emergencies in Madison County. The mission of the North Alabama Medical Reserve Corps is to recruit and train medical and non-medical volunteers to supplement existing community organizations in preparing for and responding to an emergency or disaster and to provide community education in disease awareness and prevention during non crisis times.
Somerville church of Christ Special Bible Lesson Series
The Somerville church of Christ is holding a special series of Bible lessons on a survey of the Bible. These lessons will be held on each Thursday evening of July at 7:00 pm. The lessons are: Thursday July 2, The Patriarchal Period. Thursday July 9, The Mosaic Period. Thursday July 16, The Christian Period. Thursday July 23, The History Of The Church. Thursday July 30, God's Scheme Of Redeeming Man. The lessons are free and everyone is welcome. The building is located on Highway 67 at Franklin Road, in Somerville.
Summer Theatre camp from Whole Backstage Theatre
The Whole Backstage Children's Theatre is proud to announce this summer's theatre experience for kids! Camp Shakespeare will be held August 3-7 2009 from 9AM - 12Noon each day! Children ages 5-15 will experience an opportunity to learn acting, costumes, set design, music, stage combat and much much more! A mini performance of selected Shakespeare works will be presented each afternoon by the staff of the WBS Children's Theatre.
